Re: Guy Kawasaki’s Post on “Ten Ways to Use LinkedIn to Find a Job”

Just read a great post by Guy Kawasaki on the Ten Ways to effectively utilize LinkedIn to find a job.  I was surprised to find that LinkedIn has ~35 million users!

5 main lessons from Guy’s Post:

  1. Tell everyone you know that you’re looking for a job - there’s no shame in it, the more people that know, the better
  2. Ask for and write recommendations for each other - you never know when you might need it
  3. Target the right people - get to the Hiring Manager and to the right HR person, Guy’s tip is that the ideal connection is 2 degrees of separation
  4. Find out where people at a company came from and where they go next - I didn’t know LinkedIn had this capability, but definitely checkout LinkedIn’s “Company Profiles”
  5. Consider joining a “startup” - ditto
